I have wanted to climb Ladyface for ages. The weather was perfect and my morning was free. As i drove over, there was some fog still suspended in the morning chill.  Flowers were blooming, bees buzzing, and bunnies taking care of buisness.  The view from the bottom was a bit daunting.  I spent too much time with my camera and drone, so i didn’t quite reach the summit.  i also allowed more time than required for the decent. I will return in part 2!

I Visited Niland, The Salton Sea, and Slab City.

Niland CA - Beach Sunset

I traveled to The Salton Sea to meet some of the alternative communities and see the incredible artwork coming from the area.  Also it’s a great place to get in some drone flights.

Outside of the town of Niland sits the remains of a Camp Dunlap (commissioned in 1942).  All that remain are the concrete slabs that give Slab City its name.  Since the 1980s people have been camping there for free.  Now a few permanent encampments and even a few event venues exist.  There is no water or electricity or any other government services.  There is an eBike rental place, an internet cafe, a Hostel, a Library, and the East Jesus art exhibition.

Just keep cobbling

Aerial AnimationI rebuilt my Mac Pro software completely and it appears to have resolved the idle hanging problem.  It is alway an annoying amount of work getting everything up and running again.  It’s nice to have everything fresh and clean and worth it to finally have a stable desktop.  The most frustrating part of this kind of solution is that nothing is learned.  How?  Why?  No answers, but at least an end to the frustration!

UPDATE!  – Nothing is resolved!  it just took over 48 hours for the problem to return. ?

Silver lining was my brief use of screensavers and discovering John Coats work to bring the beautiful Aerial flyovers from the Apple TV to all macs.  Looks amazing on 3 screens!

Update! – It’s finally fixed!

Defcon 2016 photos and videos

Close ups of my much coveted badge.  Some hardware and base stations of the wifi village.  Both Information Society and Berlin played on Saturday night!  Shot a video of an amazing demo from the Car Hacking Village.  A car modified to play games instead of driving.  Also, the best of my flight home.  Some great pictures of Hoover dam and some of the solar farms and mesas as we few home.

The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo – an amazing adventure!

The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is an incredible place.  We saw, touched, learned about and enjoyed countless animals from all over the globe.  Incredible views, amazing animals.  I got a video of a Grizzly Bear trying to catch a fish underwater!  Check out my pictures and videos.  This is certainly one of the top zoos I have ever visited.  (I would recommend taking the zoo shuttle for $2- My legs are still sore from all the walking up hill).  We also found a few extra animals like a Fearow.
