Kyoto Arashiyama - Monkey Park above Kyoto

In the mountains above the outskirts of Kyoto rests the Monkey Park where i met some enchanting new friends.  I got some incredible pictures and videos of some very food motivated primates.  They had a great system where all the feeding happens though the bars and outside the feeding room, the monkeys were happy to walk among the visitors.  I learned much about these the monkeys and met an adorable mother and child.

My first visit to Akihabara electric town

This has become more of a tourist/shopping experience than the electronics bazaar.  I saw some incredible stuff.  Their was an entire floor of Apple products, with more stuff than any Apple store. some of the old school electronics guys remain.  i picked up this awesome clock.

A visit to Meow Wolf Dallas on my Eclipse 2024 Roadtrip.

MeowWolf Dallas - FrontI couldn’t pass through Dallas for the Eclipse without stopping at the newest installation by my favorite art collective. I was ready to continue my immersive art experience.  No booping this time, you collected accomplishments with TXT messages. (i found a few secrets). As usual, the reality bending transitions and transposition of Meow Wolf installation delight and amuse.

I have been walking into refrigerators at Meow Wolf since  visiting House of Eternal Return in Santa Fe. It was exciting to see that all refrigerators come together in the latest installation. I had to try out the popsicle door.

i climbed a mountain. almost.

I have wanted to climb Ladyface for ages. The weather was perfect and my morning was free. As i drove over, there was some fog still suspended in the morning chill.  Flowers were blooming, bees buzzing, and bunnies taking care of buisness.  The view from the bottom was a bit daunting.  I spent too much time with my camera and drone, so i didn’t quite reach the summit.  i also allowed more time than required for the decent. I will return in part 2!

I Visited Niland, The Salton Sea, and Slab City.

Niland CA - Beach Sunset

I traveled to The Salton Sea to meet some of the alternative communities and see the incredible artwork coming from the area.  Also it’s a great place to get in some drone flights.

Outside of the town of Niland sits the remains of a Camp Dunlap (commissioned in 1942).  All that remain are the concrete slabs that give Slab City its name.  Since the 1980s people have been camping there for free.  Now a few permanent encampments and even a few event venues exist.  There is no water or electricity or any other government services.  There is an eBike rental place, an internet cafe, a Hostel, a Library, and the East Jesus art exhibition.
