Mama Musubi  is something I’ve loved from my farmers market for years.  Unfortunately it was shuddered during the pandemic and still has not returned to my market.  They did open up in a shared kitchen of sorts in Pasadena called Kitchen United.  It was to this location that my desperation would bring me.  The spot is mostly for delivery drivers and doesn’t have much for customer service.  The menu is a little different from what was offered and entered by app or kiosk.  It was amazing to enjoy after the long absence, but not exactly the same thing i was craving.  Maybe i’ll try them at one of the other markets where they still operate.

EDIT 2024  (March 29):

It appears even this site is now gone.  ?

Berries are back!

Farmers markets have berries and for a limited time, you can find Golden Raspberries!  These raspberries are sweeter and more delicious then your conventional raspberries (notable for their color.  More yellow/orange then red).  I love it when they are available and I stock up because they are usually gone by June.  I also picked up some mulberries because I had never had them before.  Despite an infamous monkey and weasel known for circling a mulberry bush, I found them quite ordinary.  A novelty for berry lovers like me, but nothing so special it must be tasted.

Markets, Trails, and Car Trouble!

We went to an amazing farmers market in Eugene to fuel up for a wonderful hike. Wonderful trails and great bird watching. Got some great photos. Then it was off to portland (after a snack). I managed to get us lost and eventually blazed my own trail (where i shouldn’t have) and was left with 2 flat tires. my roadside assistance plan hooked us up with the craziest tow truck driver ever. a great guy from san diego who was excited to see other californians. He towed us to costco and even hung out for a while waiting for our friend. Thanks again Denise! After that we snacked at Burgerville a eco friendly (and delicious) fast food joint. And nested at Denise’s place. here are some photos. Now i’m off to Costco to get some new tires and then we’ll explore the city. i hear they have a giant bookstore here.
