Apparently, a huge outage is killing iPhone service all over California. My own customers and friends have reported getting a disconnect message when trying to call me. I myself have been unable to make any calls and even txts have been failing and repeating very strangely. I called 611 furiously and after only a few minutes of complaining, they gave me a $150 credit to my account. This doesn’t compair with the aggravation and possible loss of business. (in fact, it took 4 calls to actually communicate with a rep) My only hope is that if their customers effect the bottom line enough, they might just fix the problem.

A very important pixel!
Eric and i completed and executed our very first iphone payload! It’s just an implementation of @DarkMalloc ‘s openpwn demo, but it’s the first step down a very exciting road. now sleep. better projects begin after eggs. time travel to morning.

Hanging out with robots and astrophysicists!
I visited JPL yesterday for their anual open house. I got to see many of their amazing toys. We even got to the spacecraft assembly facility. A giant clean room where the final assembly of their spacecrafts, probes, satellites and landers take place. For a room that is roughly 50 years old, it looks bran spank’n new. How do you maintain a clean room with a giant door big enough for a spacecraft to fit in? well, first off the giant door opens to an airlock. Second, the pressure is actually higher inside the clean room then outside. this way, if any air escapes, it is clean air escaping the clean room and not the other way round. I also learned about JPL/NASA’s spin on one of my favorite inventions, the Tweel! it’s a combination tire/wheel. It actually resembles a bicycle wheel more then a car wheel in that it is suspended by the spokes from the top rather then held up from the bottom. Apparently, rubber doesn’t do so well i a vacuum or in the cold (forgive me, i grew up in LA). That is why they make theirs out of some kind of space aged glass polymer. neat stuff. here are some photos. enjoy.

I’m at my first roller derby game. the event was held in a warehouse in the ventura fairgrounds. Among the throngs of spectators is an awesome assortment people from all walks of life. I was surprised at the number of children and injured women. Though the latter probably shouldn’t . . . these ladies take some serious abuse for our entertainment. All while keeping a sense of humor with clever names and even numbers. a lot of fun, keep it up girls.
Feeling Blu.
Just a few days after acquiring my new Blu-ray burner, i’m already transcoding my first HD movie. After an hour to rip, i must wait nearly 3 hours to transcode. i don’t know why i expected it to be more difficult then it was. Perhaps i should wait to see the output before making such a boast. Before you cry DMCA, remember that fair use allows me to make any additional copies of media that are required to play it. How else am i supposed to play Prestige on my iPad in HD? don’t answer that. We’ll let the lawyers fight it out.
First post from my pad!
I finally picked it up! Backed up my blob and jailbroke it, all before leaving the mall. They were out of cases and every accessory i wanted, but i am excited to get this home and start the real fun. Big thanks to zay and all my other elves who worked to make this happen for me.
