i never got to the actual camp, but some great hiking, some great views, and beautiful weather.
After arriving, we went straight to Skywalker Grill for lunch. The food was incredible and the views spectacular. The architecture was beautiful with wood, metal, and glass working together in almost organic ways.
Immediately after lunch, we hit up the star wars gallery, i took so many 3D photos and even a few 3D scans. This is the best one i got all day: The fate of Jaba the Hut.
The Promenade mall was an iconic mall in the valley for decades. i watched countless movies at that AMC. i waited in line for some of my first iPhones in that mall. For years it was just a movie theatre and a half abandoned food court. I took this epic shot from the top floor of the warner center. you can even see the Rams training facility and of course, P.F. Chang’s is still there.
i found some older pics from the end of 2022 of the mall abandoned. enjoy. Continue reading “Big changes seen from epic vantage!”
During a visit to the Getty i scanned a few sculptures. Here, i’ve included the files i hope you can make use of them. let me know how it turns out. Scans were made using Scaniverse.
Continuing my exploration of these hills, i found another trailhead. This time in Simi Valley and despite a understated entrance, we found some exciting features. Including this wash under the 118! Respite from the sun and incredible acoustics. There was a cave that none of the trails we found seemed to head towards. We met another hiker who gave us an idea of how to find it. Next time.
Not all the buds bloomed last night, but i got two good ones making this a success. I’ll try again tomorrow night. hopefully it keeps getting better. more info on the plant. (4K Video)
Second night of time lapse.

Lots of awards presented. i’ve got to enter more photo competitions. https://la3dclub.com/
Originally built in 766 Otagi Nenbutsu-Ji Temple was rebuilt a few times since then, most notably by Kocho Nishimura, a statue sculptor and restorer who himself became a Buddhist monk. Over 10 years stating in 1981 reconstruction was in full swing. The main project was the construction of the 1200 carved statues that now cover the hillsides. These are rakan, the followers of Buddha, created individually by everyday followers who made the pilgrimage to learn carving from Kocho Nishimura. you can see the individuality and even elements of personality in each carving.
There are many bamboo forests in Japan, many of the most famous are in the outskirts of Kyoto. This was one of the less popular ones, but none the less beautiful or majestic.
